Around glockna in winter, everything revolves around snow, the slopes, and the question of which ski area to visit today. You’ll be spoilt for choice around our ski hotel in Austria, as the Zell am See-Kaprun region is one of the best skiing regions in the country, with a total of 408 kilometres of slopes. Mt Kitzsteinhorn, Salzburg’s only glacier ski area, and Mt Schmittenhöhe, high above Lake Zell, are just a few minutes’ ride away by ski bus – which stops right outside glockna.

Guaranteed snow from October to May, slopes with natural snow up to 3,000 metres above sea level, snow parks, and freeride opportunities – Mt Kitzsteinhorn is Salzburg’s only glacier ski area and one of the most snow-sure throughout Austria. With an elevation ranging from 768 to 3,029 metres, fun in the snow is guaranteed for almost 8 months of the year. For families, freestylers, freeriders, and leisure skiers: everyone can find their own rhythm here. And if you want to head even higher, the Gipfel Restaurant, situated at 3,029 metres above sea level on Mt Kitzsteinhorn, is Salzburg’s highest restaurant – with a panoramic view that speaks for itself.

Mt Schmittenhöhe
Zell am See’s local mountain
77 kilometres of slopes, 27 lifts, an elevation ranging from 760 to 2,000 metres – Mt Schmittenhöhe, towering above Lake Zell, is a classic destination that never gets boring. Five long valley runs, eight off-piste routes, and the legendary Trass run for anyone looking for an unmissable experience around our ski hotel in Austria – steep, black, and with lake views. For families, there are wide blue runs and Schmidolin’s Dragon Park children’s adventure area. And in the evening? Night skiing on the floodlit night slope – right above the rooftops of Zell am See.
